Ukrainian singers perform their country’s national anthem at the close of a concert Sunday afternoon at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston. The event is a celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day and features the Maine Balkan Choir, accompanied by the Huddled Masses Orchestra. Pictured in front from left: Oksana Vasylenko, Liudmyla Iurchenko, Sofiya Kleshneva and Yuliya Kleshneva, all of whom arrived in Maine within the past year as refugees from their war-torn homeland. They are holding sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine, presented to them by the choir in thanks for sharing their talents as special guest soloists. Submitted photo by Cindy Larock
