Cindy Marie Prescott

BOW, N.H. – Cindy Marie Prescott, a remarkable woman who courageously battled cancer for eight years, passed away peacefully on Aug. 18, 2023. Her ‘Terminator’ spirit, poise, and unwavering positivity throughout her journey were an inspiration to all who knew her. Born on Jan. 30, 1956, in Rumford, Maine, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Betty Hicks Clark and the late Raymond L Clark.

Her vibrant, selfless, and caring personality marked Cindy’s journey through life. A graduate of Lewiston High School in 1974 and the New Hampshire State Hospital School of Nursing in 1979, she was a loyal and compassionate school nurse who found her home in the Bow School District for 19 fulfilling years. She considered it the best job any nurse could ever have. Cindy’s dedication to her students reflected her deeply rooted passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others. Her love for the Boston Red Sox developed when she used baseball statistics to encourage students to enjoy math.

In addition, Cindy was a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tom, and her three devoted sisters, Krista (and Peter Bell), April, and Mary Ann Clark, and their families. Cindy’s three children, Cara, Mary (and Justin), and John (and Christina), and four grandchildren, Tim, Madison, Justin Jr. and Raegan were her greatest joys. Her role as a mother brought out her nurturing and loving nature, leaving a mark on her family’s hearts forever.

Cindy extended her love by celebrating life’s moments and liked to go particularly big on Christmas and Thanksgiving. She was delighted to host gatherings for family and friends and obsessed over details like matching Christmas PJs and her signature custom birthday cakes. She knew how to bring everyone together and feel loved.

Her interests were as diverse as her infectious smile. Cindy was passionate about classic rock and loved inserting lyrics of her favorite songs into daily life – especially Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. She enjoyed outdoor activities like cross-country skiing, adventurous walks, and snowshoeing. Cindy was deeply engaged with her community, actively participating in civic duties and staying informed about local affairs. The shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and Higgins Beach held a special place in her heart because they brought her family together. She found comfort in nature’s gentle embrace and the sun’s warmth. As an avid reader, Cindy devoured over 800 books on her Kindle. She enjoyed historical novels with romantic twists, particularly those revolving around King Henry VIII.

Cindy leaves a legacy of love, strength, and joy that will inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. Her impact on her family, friends, and community is immeasurable. While we mourn the loss of her physical presence, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.

There will be a Celebration of Life at The Barn at Bull Meadow in Concord, N.H., on Monday, September 11, at 4 p.m., followed by a reception to share good memories of Cindy!

As a final public service announcement, she wanted to remind us to get our colonoscopies and other medical screenings
