Agatha Fern Merrill (Ferguson)

OXFORD – Agatha Fern Merrill (Ferguson), 85 of Oxford County Maine, left this world on Aug. 20, 2023, surrounded by family.

She was born on July 2, 1938, to Paul and Jessie (Hoggatt) Ferguson of Epsom, Indiana. On Nov. 17, 1960, she married the love of her life, her late husband, Earl C. Merrill. Together they had four children; a son, Dana Merrill, and three daughters; Deanna Bean, Michelle Merrill, and Julianna Barnard.

Fern was witty and stubborn, always willing to let you know what she was thinking. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sharing stories of her life (some stories needed to stay “between me, you and a lamppost”), quilting and crocheting. She adored the company of her cats, Jack, and Timothy Allen.

Fern is predeceased by her loving husband, her parents, her son, and brothers; Paul “Bud” Ferguson, Edward “Ed” Ferguson, and Marion Ferguson.

She is survived by her sisters, Leah “Jean”, Julia “Kate”, Leona and Linda, her daughters, Deanna, Michelle, Julianna and her son-in-law, Arthur. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Joanne, Alaina, Peter, Joshua, Scott, Jessie, Kassandra, Christopher, Tyler, Savannah and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on September 1, 2023, at the Hanover Cemetery Route 2, Hanover.
