Jacqueline “Jackie” Mercier

LIVERMORE – Jacqueline “Jackie” Mercier, 80, of Livermore, passed away Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 25, 1942 in Livermore Falls the youngest of 13 children to Pierre and Carmelle (Labine) Castonguay. She attended St. Rose of Lima School in Jay (Chisholm) and was a 1961 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. On September 25, 1965 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay she married her husband of 57 years, David Mercier. After graduating from high school, Jackie worked locally where she met her husband after he returned from the Army. They married and started a life together. She was a devoted homemaker for many years. While raising her family she enjoyed following her children’s activities and sporting events. She returned to work for the Livermore Falls High School and Livermore Elementary School cafeteria. Her religion was always important to her. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and also enjoyed getting together with friends at the Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens Club.

Jackie was an avid reader and patron of Treat Memorial Library. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, walking, boating and spending time with family on Long Pond. She loved her time with her family and friends. Some of her favorite things to do were to support their activities and events even following her granddaughter Hunter’s basketball career through college. Jackie or “Memere” had a unique and special bond with each of her three grandchildren. Her proudest moments were when they each graduated from high school and college. Memere always felt education was important and her grandchildren worked hard to show their appreciation for all of her support.

She is survived by her husband, David Mercier of Livermore, her children Lynn Mercier of Livermore, Karen Petcher, Randall Mercier and Russell Mercier and grandchildren Alexandria (Petcher) and husband Adrian Nicholson, Zachary Petcher and fiancé Emily Calise and granddaughter Hunter Mercier. Jackie is also survived by her sisters, Theresa Maranda and Marguerite Williamson. She was predeceased by an infant son, her parents, sisters Lorraine Cote, Patricia Nadeau, Pauline Dion, Margaret Williamson, Claudette Lemelin, Gloria Henry, Anita Couture and Louise Nolette. and brothers Roger Castonguay, Rene Castonguay and Paul Castonguay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:30 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay, Maine. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, August 24, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
