Jean A. Breault Comptois

RUMFORD – Jean Comptois lost her battle with Alzheimer’s, Aug. 13, 2023. Jean resided at The Lamp Memory Loss Care Facility in Lisbon at the age of 84. She was born in Rumford, July 23, 1939; daughter of the late Ernest and Rita Breault of Mexico. Her journey with Altzimers began shortly after moving from Brattleboro, Vt., back to her Maine routes in Rumford. In September 2018, unable to live alone, she moved to The Lamp Memory Care Facility in Lisbon.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Normand L. Comptois; brother Dexter Breault; sister Anita Breault Merrill; paternal and maternal grandparents; a stepdaughter Spring Comptois White of Houlton.

Jean is survived by her brother Tom Breault of North Waterboro, Stepson Paul Comptois and his wife Dawn of Spofford, N.H.; stepgrandchildren in Houlton, cousins, nephews and nieces. Additionally, Jean leaves her longtime friend Karen Williams of Brattleboro, Vt.

Jean’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at The Lamp Memory Loss. Incredible staff caring for her and loving their JEANNIE BEANIE. I am grateful for the care and love shared to both Jean and I. In addition, a special thanks to Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice for the care given to Jean in her last few days.

Visitation will be held on Monday Aug. 21, from 2 – 3:30 p.m., at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., at Demerritt Cemetery in West Peru.
