GREENE – Mark Lamont McKechnie, 53, of Greene, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday Aug. 2, 2023.
He was born in Augusta, on Dec. 3, 1969, the son of Clyde Trask Jr. and Barbara (Chapman) McKechnie.
He worked in many trades including construction, demolition, carpentry, building, working on small engines and automobiles. He was a master craftsman with meticulous attention to detail. He put his heart and soul into every project.
Mark had the biggest smile and the most contagious and hearty laugh. He enjoyed spending time at camp, sitting by the campfire with friends, listening to music, boating, fishing, hunting, family gatherings and tinkering with any small projects that he could get his hands on. Mark looked forward to long conversations with his father and time he spent with his kids. He was a man that was always willing to help friends and family in need. He loved all animals and had a new passion for traveling and exploring new places with Cindy. He was a proud member of the Androscoggin Grange #8 in Greene and was a big part of the restoration project on the building. In his teen years he loved stock car racing, sand drags and demolition derbies.
Mark is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Cindy Morin, father Clyde Trask Jr. and stepmother Sugar Barry Paulin-Trask, daughter Nicole Haas, son Mark R. McKechnie and life partner Tessa Duby, daughter Annie McKechnie and his “bonus kids” Travis and Brittany Morin. Sisters Sandra Ellis and her husband Patrick Ellis Sr. and Carol Markham, brothers Jeffrey McKechnie and wife Karen McKechnie, Randy McKechnie, and life partner Dawn True. Grandchildren Reagan, Delilah, John, Tay, and Ellie.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Clyde Lamont Trask Sr. and grandmother Earlene E Trask, grandmother Annie Chapman, his mother Barbara McKechnie, his brother Everett Chapman and his wife Mary Chapman and many aunts and uncles.
A private graveside service will be held at Putnam Cemetery for close family.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends.
