50 Years Ago: 1973

The final play of the 1973 Theater at Monmouth Repertory season will be William Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale”. This will open at Cumston Hall, Monmouth at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. The “Winter’s Tale” is a tragicomedy and shows again the romantic pastoralism found in many of Shakespeare’s works.

25 Years Ago: 1998

Ever since his parents divorced when he was a toddler in 1955 his mother told him that his father was dead. But six months ago he did a search on the internet for his father’s name. He found six matches, one in the French town where he was born.

He  wrote a letter and a copy of his birth certificate to the man who wrote back and said, “You have found your dad.”

“I was just goofing around on the computer said the 45 year old. I hoped my father was alive, but as far as I knew, my father was dead. I am planning to meet my father, a sister that I never knew existed and several nieces. The first thing I am going to do is hug my dad.”
