Jane A. Whalen

AUBURN – Jane (Hodgkin) Whalen, 86, of Auburn, passed away on July 23, 2023, at CMMC after a brief illness. She was born in Lewiston to Doris(Woodsome) and Dana Hodgkin on Dec. 6, 1936. Jane was raised in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1954. She was a Certified Nurses’ Aid and had formerly worked at AHHS and Clover Manor Nursing home for several years. Jane liked bowling, playing cards and doing puzzles with the girls at Great Falls Esplanade, and watching the Boston Red Sox, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Jane was formerly married to Gerald Whalen and leaves behind her five children; Scott Whalen and wife Louise, Gary Whalen and wife Terri, Rick Whalen and wife Karen, Sue Ferguson and husband Andy, and Andrew Whalen and partner Becky; grandchildren: Kayla, Jerry ( Joanna), Josh (Jamie), Matt (Heather), Garrett, Brooke (Robert) and Ryan Whalen, Sierra (Lee) Guy and Morgane (Caleb) Fergusen; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Paxton, Hadley and River Whalen, Wesley Smith, Finnlee Guy and
Kinsley Burnham. She is also survived by a sister Betty Johnson of Poland Maine and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank niece Donna Polley for her visits and time spent with Aunt Jane. She was predeceased by her siblings Bob and Eddie Hodgkin, Jaunita Stacer, Ruth Polley and Laura Hodgkin. The family would like to thank Clover Manor Karry Unit and CMMC T3 for their wonderful care. Jane, Mom, Grammie, GG, Barbya we will miss you.

Visitation The Fortin Group / AUBURN Friday August 11, from 2 – 6 p.m., with a brief prayer service at 5 p.m. Interment in Mt. Auburn Cemetery will take place at a later date.
