100 Years Ago: 1923
Mrs. Harding, aboard the special train bearing the President’s body to Washington, D.C. has requested railroad officials to see that the train travels no faster than fifty miles an hour at any time. and that its maximum speed in cities and towns where crowds have gathered be ten miles per hour, according to a telegram made public here last night by Supt. B. F. Stevens of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.
50 Years Ago: 1973
The “Summer Adventure” program (Church Vacation School) of the Calvary United Methodist Church began this week and will continue through Thursday, Aug. 16. There will be a program for parents and friends on the evening of the 16th, with displays of crafts and projects completed by those attending. There are classes for three-year-olds through junior high with lessons in life, conflict and religion. Mrs. James Rand, superintendent of the Calvary Church School, is the director and she is being assisted by Mrs. Richard Gross, Mrs. Leslie Davis, Mrs. David Morin, Mrs. Ralph Sweetser, Mrs. Leo R. Caron, Mrs. William Fake and Mrs. Edward L. Fenderson.

There will be a “Camp Out at the Library” pizza party at 6 p.m. Friday at the Charles M. Bailey Public Library as part of the children’s summer reading program.
