DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re asking for your help one more time. The Edward Little High School Class of 1956 is having its mini reunion at Taber’s on Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. Rain date is Aug. 10. Thank you, Sun Spots, for helping us reach some of our classmates that we are unable to. — Betty, no town
ANSWER: I’m always happy to help. Class of 1956 — wow! Go to your high school reunions, people! Reconnect with those “kids” you hung out with and be prepared to make new friends too.
If any readers have class reunion stories they’d like to share, I’d love to hear them. If we get enough interesting anecdotes, I’ll pass it over to the editor for the Sunday B section. Just send them to Sun Spots.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A large indoor/outdoor Rummage and Yard Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 12, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St. in South Paris.
A bag sale will follow from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Clothes, books, furniture, kitchenware, household items, tools and much more will be available at reasonable prices. Our church has appreciated your help in the past. Thank you. — No name, South Paris
ANSWER: It’s so great to know all these traditional yard sales are up and running. So much work goes into these events and I hope all you Sun Spotters will take advantage of searching out bargains. Donate when you can too. Designate a spot in your home or garage where you can collect items you no longer need and when the box, bag, or corner is filled, put them in your vehicle and drop them off somewhere where they can be useful to someone else!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Recently my husband and I went to dinner and the movies to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, during the movie I suffered a medical emergency and 911 was called. I want to thank the employees and patrons who assisted us during this time. I also want to apologize to the patrons who were in the theater for the disruption. I was treated in the emergency room and am feeling better. — Louise, no town
ANSWER: How scary! I’m glad you’re feeling better now though, and under the circumstances, I’m impressed that you even thought of writing to Sun Spots to reach out to the other patrons and the employees in the theater that evening. Now focus on taking care of yourself.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I thought readers would enjoy the following recipe for Blueberry Cream Cheese Pie.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix 2 softened (8-ounce) bars cream cheese (regular or low-fat), 1 cup sugar or less, and 1 cup wild or cultivated blueberries with a spoon.
Spread mixture in a 9-inch premade pie shell (I use a graham cracker crust) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until filling is bubbling. Allow it to cool. This can be served plain or with whipped cream. Garnish with more berries.
This is very delicious summer dessert! — David, Poland Spring
ANSWER: I’m going to make this very soon! Thanks, David. We can always count on you for great recipes. Readers, share your blueberry recipes please!
