WEST PARIS – Walter Toivo Inman Sr., of West Paris, died on June 19, 2023, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norway, on March 9, 1957, the son of Vernon and Miriam Piirainen Inman. He was educated in West Paris Schools and graduated from Oxford Hills High School. He was a member of the band and ski team.
Walter was a Mason and member of Granite Lodge #182; served in the National Guard Co. D of #262, where he earned the rank of sergeant; He was a retired postmaster having worked in Vinalhaven, Bryant Pond, West Paris; and a mail carrier in Portland.
Walter was an avid fisherman with a passion for fly fishing. He particularly enjoyed fishing at Nesowadnehunk Lake with his fishing buddy Tom Redman. Walter was well known in West Paris as a fire chief and member of the West Paris Fire Department.
He is survived by two sons, Vernon Inman of Disputanta, Va., and Walter T. Inman, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of South Woodstock; five grandchildren, Brooke, Braeden, Baylor, Carter and Bennett; and his sister, Vivian Sanborn; uncle, Milton Inman; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Virginia, and two brothers, Marshall and Michael.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
