DEAR SUN SPOTS: Our Russell Family will be celebrating our 100th Family Reunion on Saturday, July 29. This reunion goes back generations and for the past 50 years or more we have met at Bear Pond in Hartford/Turner.

This year we are looking forward to having family members come from all over the country. If you are related to Dana, Sanders, Fred or Doris, we would love to reconnect. Bring food items to share, and swimsuits so you can enjoy the pond.

More information can be found on the 100th Russell Reunion Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/856268871867942 and request to join the group) or you can contact me at (674-2589). — Pam, West Paris

ANSWER: This sounds like a happy time for all! I’m wondering how many of your relatives will be there.

Just a little tip for all Sun Spotters, be sure to send in these date-sensitive announcements at least two weeks in advance when at all possible.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We here at the Pleasant Street Drop-in Center are happy to be reaching 100-plus of our neighbors each week, but it does mean rethinking some of our systems.

We have simplified what we offer for free resources in the hope of being able to keep the most vital items stocked and flowing out the door, and have been able to source some items, arriving by this Friday, the 28th.

What we need most now are plastic totes with lids to store fall and winter gear, snack size and sandwich size Ziplocs to bag items, any size blankets, reusable water bottles, bug spray, men’s underwear, pants and shorts, sleeping bags, backpacks, luggage, powder, body wipes, hair brushes and lotion.

It warms our hearts when donations come in, from the smallest bag to the largest garbage bags filled with items. Thank you, all of you in Androscoggin County, for helping us support our own. — Caroline, Lewiston

ANSWER: I can’t say it enough, find a local nonprofit or two and support them in any way you can on a regular basis. Even if your donation is small and you can’t do it often, what you can do still really does make a difference.

The folks at Pleasant Street Drop-in Center are doing a wonderful job. If you are affiliated with an area nonprofit and want to get the word out concerning wish lists, fundraisers, events and calls for volunteers, send your information to Sun Spots. Lots of readers will see it and they will respond.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have many copies of the Reader’s Digest magazine to give to anyone who is interested. As many of you may know, these have short stories and lots of good reading. Please give me a call at (784-9435) and leave a message if I don’t answer. — Sandra, no town

ANSWER: When I was a kid I used to love to curl up with a pile of Reader’s Digest magazines. A person can really learn a lot from those. I hope someone comes and gets the whole bunch!

Are there any nonprofits out there who would like them?
