SOUTH PARIS – Linda J. Young, 74, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her home in South Paris. She was born in Norway, Maine on Aug. 24, 1948, the daughter of Albert and Hilda (Johnson) Brackett. Linda attended Oxford Hill High School, graduating with the first class to graduate from there in 1967. She worked as Clerical Supervisor at Department of Health and Human Services in Lewiston for 27 years. After retirement from DHHS in 2004 Linda worked parttime at the post office on Paris Hill until 2014.
On April 17, 1982, Linda married Daniel E. Young. Linda was a member of Moss Brook Church, the women’s auxiliary Post 0072 for 35 years, and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, quilting, making tie die shirts and stamping up. She liked to go camping and spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by her husband Daniel, her children Timothy Durgan, and his wife Nicole Pepper, Melissa Cook and her husband Ronald, grandchildren Landon, Jasmine and husband Tyler, Holly, Rueben, Lily and stepgrandsons Bailey and Camden, two brothers, and five sisters, along with 40-plus nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, a sister, and stepson Michael Young. Visiting Hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., on Saturday July 29, 2023, at Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Stuarts Corner Cemetery, 16 Crooked River Rd, Harrison.
