DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Franco Center recently received some wedding gowns that we would like to display for the brides-to-be who visit us and who might be interested in wearing those gowns at their own weddings.

Sun Spots readers have been so helpful in the past and we hope someone reading this has some mannequins we could use for the display. Please contact me at dscammon@francocenter.org or 261-5240

The Franco Center staff and board thank everyone for your support. — Denise, Lewiston

ANSWER: That sounds like such a wonderful project — tell us more! I’d love to have more information about where the gowns came from, if you want more vintage gowns, and how long the display will be in place.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding battery-powered yard tools July 21 Sun Spots, I purchased an EGO weed whacker (line trimmer) along with an EGO leaf blower.

I am very, very pleased with them, especially with the line trimmer. The reloading of line is incredibly easy, just insert a new length of line into the trimmer head, hold down a button and it winds up on its own. For years, I used a gas-powered Stihl line trimmer which was a bear to load new line into.

I would suggest the purchase of an extra battery as they run down in about 30 minutes. With the second battery, you can scoot back to the garage and swap them out.

When my gas-powered push mower needs to be replaced, I will buy a battery-operated one. — No name, Livermore

ANSWER: Thank you for the valuable recommendation. If other readers want to make recommendations, please also include where you purchased your equipment, especially if it was from a local business.

My mom, in her 80s, had an EGO line trimmer and she used it easily for yard work. She loved the thing, and as you mention, she had two batteries for hers as well.
