I am not surprised that someone attached to Central Maine Power would come out against Pine Tree Power (“Kurt Pullman: The squeaky wheel gets the grease: Thoughts on why government-controlled power is wrong for Maine, July 16).

After all, like politicians, the column’s author has his own financial gain attached to this issue. Sorry, but I don’t buy this one-sided view of Pine Tree Power by someone who works for CMP. To me it seems very biased.

CMP has too much power. Just like the politicians. The voters of the State of Maine voted down the CMP corridor through the wildness of Maine, yet a power-heavy CMP spent a ton of money to get the courts to reject the wishes of the Maine people.

If that isn’t too much power I don’t know what is.

Avangrid sued the people of Maine with money it got or can get from Maine taxpayers. They use our money, their profits, to sue us. Is this really the people we want in charge of our power system?

It is ranked as the worse publicly traded power company in the country. It was fined here in Maine hundreds of thousands of dollars for violating rules and regulations. Doesn’t this sound like too much money and too much power?

Exactly what the author was preaching as bad for Maine.

It is exactly what we have already. I feel the situation will come down to nothing but money and power.

This is in no way support for Pine Tree Power. I know very little about it and like many Mainers I have no crystal ball that will tell me what will end up being the best option. It is more like what option sucks the least. A very sad state of affairs leaving most of us with voting for something we don’t want.

I just can’t believe CMP is any good for Maine and the Maine people. Just more money in its pockets and the ability to buy whatever it wants for Maine, no matter what the people want.

Or what is in their best interest.

Sad.
