Open walk-in enrollment to this summer’s session of the McG United Soccer Academy will be held between 8:30-9 a.m. July 24 at the Lewiston-Auburn Youth Soccer Association fields behind the Auburn Middle School. Pre-registered players will be checked in at the same time. The academy runs from July 24-28.

Players will be asked to bring a well-marked ball and a water bottle that can be refilled at the field. A snack and a lunch if they are all-day players, sunscreen will be recommended, and a gear bag to keep all their belongings in.

Drivers are asked to not park on the middle school field grass. Also, they are asked to be vigilant in that there will be lots of traffic and excited kids in the registration area.

The Academy is open to players 5 to 17 years old. There is a goalkeeper’s session for older keepers in middle and high school. Butch Dow, former high school and college assistant coach will instruct the keepers.

In the case of severe weather, Auburn Middle School has agreed to be a safe shelter. The academy will continue once it’s safe to return to the fields. Parents who choose to pick up players can do so at any time. Parents are to notify one of the coaches that they are taking their player home. The academy will go on until every player is picked up.

At the end of the day, parents should pick up their children in a timely manner so as to not force coaches to stay beyond their allotted duty.
