LEWISTON — Paul Beauparlant announces he is running for reelection as the Ward 7 representative for the Lewiston School Committee.
Originally appointed to the position by former Mayor Mark Cayer to fill a vacancy in January 2021, Beauparlant won election to the position in November that year.
Beauparlant said he is proud to be a member of a governing body that will not allow partisan politics to interfere in its quest to make the second largest school district in the state the best it can be.
Beauparlant said poverty and lower English proficiency should never be equated with a lack of intelligence. He advocates an “all hands on board” approach and that healthy relationships can best be accomplished through open communication, co-operation and collaboration that includes taxpayers/citizens, students, parents, teachers and administration.
A veteran classroom teacher in Auburn, Beauparlant said he hopes to continue using his extensive background in public education and the feedback he receives from the citizens of Lewiston to promote and oversee sound fiscal and educational policies that have included support for alternative education, maintaining safe facilities and recognizing the importance of religious holidays in the school calendar.
