ANSWER: This sounds like a fun time and what a great reason to drive over to Sumner. I do admire car enthusiasts because it takes some work and dedication to keep these old beauties in tip-top condition. Whenever I see an antique/vintage car on the road, it brings me joy!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Pleasant Street Drop-in Center isn’t going to solve homelessness, but we’re making a difference every week to 100+ people. Here are some ideas for helping: We need body wipes, deodorants, powders, small towels, trash bags, brushes, tissues, reusable water bottles and Dunkin’ gift cards.

Our guests also need clothing such as men’s new underwear, bras (new or not), men’s shorts and pants, and socks, socks, socks! Any kind of shoes are welcome. So please clean out your drawers and closets.

Outdoor survival gear is also needed such as tarps, sleeping bags, backpacks, flashlights, umbrellas, bug spray, sunscreen, band-aids, and especially any size blankets are incredibly helpful. Yard sales can yield some of these if you’re out and about.

When our guests leave for the day, they often don’t know what or when they will eat next. Portable food items have an immediate impact. Granola bars, oatmeal packets, pop top cans of soups/meals, canned meats, peanut butter, cereals, juices, packed fruits, and ramen are all good choices. Can you grab a few extras when you do your grocery shopping?

Please visit our Amazon bulk wish list at https://www.amazon.com/…/2NQD7…/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1. Even the teeniest donations make a difference and are received with gratitude. — Caroline, no town

ANSWER: Located at the First Universalist Church at 169 Pleasant St., this low-barrier day shelter for unhoused individuals provides a safe, quiet space, snacks, toiletries, clothing and outdoor gear. I follow them on Facebook and see that they are working so hard to help the unhoused, as are other nonprofits in the area. Your donations to these organizations make a tremendous difference so I urge you to pick one to support or spread your donations throughout the area.
