DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone in the Lewiston-Auburn area who sharpens hedge trimmers and loppers?—Mona, no town
ANSWER: I am glad you asked this question. It reminded me that I need to drop off a few things to be sharpened.
Mathieu Saw & Tool at 7 Enterprise St. in Lewiston can help you out with that project. The technicians there can sharpen anything from biscuit cutters to ice augers. Just allow one-week turnaround time. You can drop off your items or ship them. The business is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can get all the information about its sales and service at www.mathieusaw.com, or by calling 207-783-9087, or by sending an email to todd@mathieusaw.com.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I mailed a letter to Sun Spots last month but it was never answered. Is it because I did not include my contact information? I might have forgotten. Or did I just miss it? I don’t get the Monday e-Edition. Should I just call the office? —No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: I apologize for that. Please send your letter in again, being sure to include your name, telephone number and email address, if you have one. Handwritten letters are scanned and typed, and we sometimes have a question. For example, there are times a reader’s handwriting is not quite clear to us, we want to verify the spelling of a name or we need more information.
A good example of this is when the date or time of an event is accidentally omitted or is incorrect.
We ask that you not call the office and leave messages with Sun Spots questions. I also want to remind everyone that if you send something to Sun Spots, please do not ask that it be answered confidentially and not be included in the column.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston High School class of 1958 is scheduled to celebrate its 65th reunion Sunday, July 23, at Davinci’s Restaurant from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $30 per person.
This is a reminder to those who have not responded: Please let us know if you are planning to attend. The committee would love to hear from you. Please call me at 207-786-3052 or Joan Tankey at 207-782-4240, or email jtankey827@aol.com.– Rachel, no town
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Second Congregational Church at the corner of Main and Paris streets in Norway has a “Community Prayer Box” near the sign where our community can share prayer requests. Writing materials are available by the box.
Write down your prayer request and place it into the box. Our church prayer team will lift those requests in prayer.
The box is checked throughout the week and is locked so requests are private. Only our prayer team will see them.
Second Congregational Church is always searching for ways to expand its outreach to all in Greater Oxford Hills, and the prayer box is available to everyone.—Pam, no town
ANSWER: Thank you for letting Sun Spots readers know about this, and for offering this solace to those who need lifting up. It is wonderful.
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name. We will not use it if you ask us not to. Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
