NORWAY — The First Universalist Church of Norway will host an Art Exhibit and Sale in the church Concert Hall on July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on July 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located at 479 Main Street, Norway, across the street from the Matolcsy Art Center.
The event will feature nine local artists and a wide variety of artistic media. A special highlight of the Friday evening reception will be the incomparable piano music of Tom Coolidge. Displayed artists will include Lyn Bell (pen & ink, acrylic ink wash), Josh Farr (photography) Roberta Gordon (pastels, acrylics, paper tole), Brenda Goulet (oils on canvas), Peter Herley (mixed media/acrylics), Suzanne Norman (acrylics, watercolors, & oil crayons), Gayle Plummer (acrylics), Jo Thomas (mixed media), Steve Traficante (photography), and Alice Tweedie (watercolors, pastels, pencil drawings, & oils).
The exhibit will be held in conjunction with the Western Maine Art Group’s First Friday Receptions at the Main Street Gallery and the Matolcsy Art Center, with refreshments served at each of the three venues. “We are excited to be included in this annual summer event and thank the Western Maine Art Group for extending this opportunity to us. We hope that folks enjoying the Norway Music and Art Festival on Saturday will wend their way to the church to enjoy our exhibit,” said Joanne McDonald, church board chair.
