LEWISTON — With the July 4 Independence Day holiday approaching, officials are reminding residents about the city’s fireworks ordinance. The ordinance restricts use of consumer fireworks to three dates and within a specific discharge zones. Violations may be reported to (207) 784-6421, Option #1.
Consumer fireworks may be utilized in Lewiston only on the below dates:
• July 4 between 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Dec. 31 between 10 a.m. until 1 a.m. the following day
• Jan. 1 from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
And they are only permitted in some outlying areas of the city. Fireworks are prohibited in all business and residential areas in the downtown.
The sale of fireworks in Lewiston is also prohibited.
