Friday night was all right for Joe Pastore at Oxford Plains Speedway.

The weekly Super Late Model contender — he sits third in points two months into the season — captured the checkered flag at the track for the first time in 2023 by winning Friday night’s special-edition open 100-lap SLM feature. It was only Pastore’s second podium finish so far this season at Oxford Plains, despite sitting near the top of the standings in the Oxford Championship Series SLM division.

Kyle DeSouza was the runner-up and Scott Moore placed third in the 30-car field. Max Cookson, the defending OCS SLM champion and current points leader, finished fifth.

In other action Friday night, winners included: Owen Stuart (Thunder Stocks), Jordan Russell (Limiteds), Tyson Jordan (Street Stocks), Corey Morgan (Mad Bombers), Cayleigh Rose (Rookies) and Scott Merrill (Figure 8s).

Thursday’s winners in Oxford Acceleration Series action included: Chris Giguere (Rebels), Matt Veinott (Outlaws), John Childs (Cruisers), Keith Stuart (Varsity Thunder Stocks), Alex Moore (Trucks) and Ashley Martel (Ladies).

Saturday’s Oxford Championship Series racing slate was canceled due to rain.

The next scheduled racing event at the track is a Saturday slate for July 1 that includes both the Oxford Championship Series and the Oxford Acceleration Series, as well as a fireworks show.

WISCASSET WINNERS

It was a first-time feeling for Chris Burgess on Saturday night at Wiscasset Speedway.

The Hartford native captured his first career feature win in the track’s Late Model Sportsman division. Will Collins and Pat Murphy rounded out the podium for the 40-lap feature.

Other winners included Ryan Ripley (Modifieds) and Jeremy Glazier (Strictly Streets).

The Outlaw Mini division was also in action Saturday, but the feature was stopped by track ownership on lap 7 “following an unfortunate on-track incident and subsequent elongated red flag,” according to a Chasing the Checkered press release distributed on the track’s behalf. The press release added that there will be no official results from the race.

NH NATIVES TOP ACT FIELD

The American-Canadian Tour went north of the border Sunday, visiting Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec. But it was a pair of New Hampshire natives who cemented their places on the podium.

Jimmy Renfrew Jr. won the 150-lap race, and fellow Granite Stater DJ Shaw finished third. Quebec’s Dany Trepanier was the runner-up.

The series’ next stop is scheduled for Sunday, July 9 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

NESS STOPS IN CT

The New England Supermodified Series held its second event of the season Wednesday at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut. Ben Seitz topped the 10-car field to win the 30-lap feature. Dan Bowes, who won the series’ season opener at Thunder Road earlier this month, finished second.

The series is scheduled to visit Oxford Plains on Saturday, July 8.
