DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Hartford Heritage Society is holding an indoor yard sale July 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hartford Town Hall.
Please contact one of our members if you have items to donate. All proceeds will go toward the upkeep and restoration of the J & O Irish Museum on Route 140/Main Street.
Thank you to all for participating in all our fundraisers and for visiting the museum. We are always looking for donations such as tools for the barn and items for the shelves in the store, especially old spice containers or anything that you think would look good on the shelves. The building was a general store that closed in 1953 with living quarters on the second and third floors.
Thank you, Sun Spots, for all your good information and for the great recipes. For more information, call 224-7147. — Doreen, no town
ANSWER: Thank you for all you do to keep this gem going. Readers, if you haven’t visited, be sure to check it out this summer.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Our Pleasant Street Drop-In Center opened at 169 Pleasant St. in Auburn in February and the first week no one came. The next week a couple of people came. During the past two months we have seen a huge increase on both Wednesday and Saturday.
The Wednesday morning program continues from 9 a.m. to noon, serving a light breakfast and delicious lunch. Service providers continue to meet with our guests to help facilitate connections to much needed services. Our total number of Wednesday guests served in April and May was 235. During the past two Wednesdays we have been able to schedule 12 people to use our new shower.
The weekend program starting May 6 has shifted to Satirday. Our summer hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We continue to offer a good breakfast and a substantial lunch with many sandwiches and meals to go. Our total number of guests served in April and May was 525.
We are now at the point of needing more donations of clothing, toiletries, tents, tarps, snack food, canned food with pop tops, as well as volunteers and financial donations to assist us in continuing these programs. Our mailing address for donations is The Drop-In Center, 9 North River Road, #548, Auburn, ME 04210. Our GoFundMe link: Https//gofund.me/244bdb7a.
We want to thank Sun Spots and community members for the support we receive. — Virginia, no town
ANSWER: Whenever I read anything regarding your organization on social media, I can’t help but feel pleased and proud that you’re doing such good work over there and are able to let people know very specifically what you need. To bring this all together and help others week after week is quite a feat. I’ll continue to help you get the word out with whatever you need!
