ANSWER: This is the last reminder for this event. Have you marked your calendars?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: There is something new at Second Congregational Church, located on the corner of Main and Paris streets in Norway.

On a tree near our church sign is a “Community Prayer Box” where we invite our community to share requests for prayers.  Everything you need including paper, pens and pencils are available by the box.

There’s no need to include your name or any contact information to participate.  Just write down your prayer request, place it through the slot in the box where it is securely kept, and our church “prayer team” will lift those requests in prayer.

The box is checked throughout the week and is locked so your requests are private and only our prayer team will see them and we will pray for you.

Second Congregational Church is always searching for ways to expand our outreach to you and all our greater Oxford Hills community.  Our community prayer box is available to everyone! We all need a little extra love and care from time to time and look forward to offering this to our community. — Pam, no town

ANSWER: Thank you for making this tiny sanctuary for the heart and soul accessible to one and all. I hope other members of other churches read this and copy you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m trying to find rechargeable heavy duty AAA batteries for my home phone. No one seems to have them. Do you have any idea where I can get some? — Robert, Lewiston

ANSWER: Do you still have the instruction booklet that came with your phone? If so, there should be information on where to purchase replacement batteries.

If you don’t have the booklet, write down the letters and numbers found on your batteries, as well as the brand of your phone and the model number.

Try contacting or going to a place that sells your brand of landline phone such as Staples, the tech department at Walmart or Target, or at Best Buy in South Portland. The batteries can also be ordered on Amazon.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here’s a shout out to Taber’s on the Lake in Auburn. Recently we chose to have a celebration of life there after our mother Christine’s burial service.

Taber’s has packages available and we were able to choose our tables, which we decorated, and there was ice cream and buckets of balls for all. Some guests opted for food choices from the delicious menu and we played miniature golf. The employees, management, views, grounds and price were excellent. We highly recommend Taber’s on the Lake for entertaining small groups and a crowd. It was wonderful! — Marie, Lewiston

ANSWER: A well-lived life needs to be celebrated and it sounds like you all did just that for your mom.
