BANGOR — Lewiston’s Makenna Drouin and Poland’s Nolan Garey each secured runner-up showings in hurdle events Saturday at the New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Cameron Stadium.
Drouin, who won the girls 300-meter hurdles New England title last year while competing for Edward Little, finished second in the event Saturday — one of four podium finishes for the Lewiston junior. Drouin’s time of 43.89 seconds in the 300 hurdles is the unofficially the second-fastest in state history, behind the 43.74 she ran as a sophomore in 2022. State records are only official if they happen at state championship meets.
Drouin also placed sixth in the 100-meter dash (12.27), and eighth in both the 200 dash (25.17) and the 100 hurdles (16.00).
Garey placed on the podium in both of his events, running personal-best times in each. He finished second in the 110-hurdles, with a time of 14.27 seconds, which is now the unofficial second-fastest in state history, and he placed sixth in the 300 hurdles (39.63).
Drouin and Garey each won state state titles in both hurdles events earlier this month.
Lisbon native Sarah Moore, competing for North Yarmouth Academy, was one of the standout performers of the day. The junior won the long jump (19 feet, ¼ inch — which would rank second in state history) and the triple jump (personal-best 37-8.25). She also was the runner-up in the high jump (5-5).
Gray-New Gloucester’s Carter Libby and Edward Little’s Saphryn Humason-Fulgham each earned top-10 finishes. Libby placed ninth in the 1,600-meter run (4:22.03), while Humason-Fulgham finished 10th in the long jump (16-8.75).
