LEWISTON — One woman was recovering from a stab wound and another was behind bars Thursday, after a Wednesday morning attack on Sylvan Avenue, according to officials.
Police said after they were called at about 9:30 a.m. to 35 Sylvan Ave., they found Hollie Skolfield, 36, with a stab wound and other injuries suffered when a second woman burst into her home and assaulted her.
Investigators said Skolfield told them she had been assaulted by Karie Ann Lessard, 31, who had broken into the house and assaulted Skolfield while also stealing property.
Police said the attack ended when a third person arrived home and fended off the attacker.
Skolfield was treated for her injuries at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Police said they located Lessard a block from the house where Skolfield had been attacked. Lessard was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, robbery, burglary and two counts of violating conditions of release set after previous arrests.
Lessard was being held Thursday at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
