Ingobire is one of more than 70 people who was recognized on the last day of the spring semester class. Teachers at The Root Cellar have taught more than 1,000 people the English language since a small group of volunteers began the program in 2014. The student-run team competes in the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association conference in the fall and spring, according to the team’s commodore, Ethan Baker, a junior from Jackson, New Hampshire. The Bates sailing team has used Taylor Pond as its home base for more than 30 years, and May 21 was its last sail before heading home for the summer.
