ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bates College junior Chrissy Aman punched her ticket to the women’s 1,500-meter run final with the 11th-fastest qualifying time during preliminary races at the NCAA Division III national championship meet Thursday.
Aman finished sixth in the first of two heats with a time of 4:30.48. She was running in second after each of the first two laps of the four-lap race before sliding back to sixth.
The top four in each heat and the next four fastest runners qualified into Saturday’s event final. Aman was the third-fastest of the non-automatic qualifiers. The Hanover, New Hampshire, native entered the event with the 13th-fastest qualifying time, with a season-best 4:29.60.
Bates senior captain and Auburn native Jillian Richardson will also be in action Saturday when she competes in the women’s 5,000-meter run. Richardson enters the championships with the 14th-fastest qualifying time. There is only a final race in the event, with no prelims.
