Violinist Katherine Liccardo will perform with her husband and mandolinist Matt Consul at the Oasis of Music beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at The Church at Trinity Commons in Lewiston.
The opening of the program will be the Sonata for Solo Violin in G Minor by J.S. Bach, after which they will perform as a duo on selections to be announced.
Liccardo is a native New Yorker now making her home in Maine, where among her activities is an interactive concert series for children entitled For the Love of Music, and starting a concert series at a goat farm. While in New York, she earned her Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and has appeared onstage at several prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall. From 2016-2019, Liccardo was a member of the Shattered Glass Ensemble, a conductorless string orchestra based in NYC, for which she was a frequent soloist. The ensemble released a CD in 2017 featuring pieces by living composers Caroline Shaw, Tarik O’Regan, and a commission by Pascal Le Boeuf.
This performance will serve as the finale for the 22-23 season. The Oasis of Music is a weekly music series of performances of roughly thirty minutes, running from September to May. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The musical genres vary greatly, in largely, but not exclusively, acoustic formats. The Church at Trinity Commons is located at 247 Bates St., Lewiston.
