Gould Academy sophomore James Tucker of Simsbury, Connecticut, gets help Wednesday from instructor Billy Ayotte of Bethel at Alumni Field on the Bethel campus. Tucker built a plane made of 3D printed plastic with the help of Ayotte, who runs the academy’s Ideas Center. The plane lost its rear landing gear on the ascent Wednesday, but Tucker said he would return for another attempt Thursday after he glues it back together. Rose Lincoln/The Bethel Citizen
