LEWISTON — Community Concepts Inc., a Community Action Agency serving families and individuals in western Maine, was recently awarded a $150,000 Housing for Everyone grant from the TD Charitable Foundation.
The charitable giving arm of TD Bank is an initiative that has helped support organizations focused on providing affordable housing and affordable housing services.
The grant will support renovation projects at several Community Concepts affordable housing complexes to increase its financial and environmental sustainability. Projects will include replacing oil-burning boilers with high-efficiency propane boilers and replacing aging roofs.
“Community Concepts is committed to supporting creative solutions to Maine’s housing crisis, including investment in and preservation of existing affordable housing options,” CEO Jim Martin said.
Through the 17th annual Housing for Everyone grant competition, the TD Charitable Foundation awarded $7 million across the bank’s Maine-to-Florida footprint and Michigan. Since 2005, the Foundation has given more than $49 million to nonprofit and charitable organizations through the Housing for Everyone grant competition and helped support more than 550 affordable housing projects and initiatives.
