Dave Chase and his sons Rhett, center, and Penn place flags at a veteran’s gravestone Saturday at Riverside Cemetery in Lewiston. More than 35 volunteers helped place 1,700 American flags throughout the cemetery, according to event organizer Leo Baillargeon of the Knights of Columbus Council 106. Both Rhett Chase, 5, and Penn, 8, had baseball games to play in after helping Saturday. Approximately 4,000 more flags will be placed Sunday at the grave of each veteran at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Volunteers should be there by 10 a.m. to help. Daryn Slover/Sun Journal
