DEAR SUN SPOTS: We have a need for children’s books and are hoping that Sun Spotters will be willing to donate to families in need in our community with young children. Books are needed for children from infants to teenagers.
Please drop off books at the Auburn United Methodist Church at 439 Park Ave. or contact the church office at 782-3972. — George, Auburn
ANSWER: Thank you for this effort to get books to children. There are families who cannot afford books or do not have transportation or time to get to the library. And of course, every child loves having books of their very own to page through and read again and again.
I hope many books come in for you to distribute and if you need volunteers to help, let me know and I’ll spread the word!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was in Walmart on the evening before Mother’s Day with my granddaughter. As we were leaving the store with our few groceries, an older gentleman approached us and gave us both bouquets of flowers that I had just seen him purchase. He tipped his hat and said to me, “Happy Mother’s Day!” and to my granddaughter, he said, “Joy to you also!” We were very surprised and touched.
Yesterday my granddaughter, who works part time in a retirement home in the dining room, took her flowers to work and divided them among some of the residents. I was so proud of her for thinking of doing that. She said she wanted to “share the love.” — Anna, Litchfield
ANSWER: What a beautiful story. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing!
