POLAND — Aiden MacFawn drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Poland handed Cape Elizabeth its first loss of the season with a 4-3 walk-off victory in Western Maine Conference baseball action Monday.

The Knights (5-5) were held scoreless until breaking through with three runs in the sixth. MacFawn had two hits, as did winning pitcher Adam Gwarjanski and Gene Grant. Drew Sayler contributed a double.

Brady Inman, Gabe Harmon, Owen Tighe and Charlie Song all hit doubles for the Capers (8-1). Harmon and Inman had two hits apiece, and Harmon was dealt the loss on the mound.

DIRIGO 14, HALL-DALE 6: The Cougars (5-2) shrugged off a five-run first by the Bulldogs (4-6) to roll to a win in Dixfield.

Dirigo answered with an eight-run bottom of the first, then scored another six runs in the fourth. Hall-Dale scored the game’s final run in the top of the fifth.

Austin Adams allowed just one earned run on seven hits and three walks while striking out four in seven innings to pick up the complete game win. He also had two hits at the plate and scored two runs.

Travis Wright and Nathaniel Wainwright added two hits apiece for the Cougars. Wainwright, Trevor Crosby and Airick Richard all hit doubles. Wright, Richard, Dakota Tompkins and Trent Holman each drove in two runs.

Eben Austin had a double and a single and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs.

GARDINER 6, LEAVITT 5: Patrick Mansir had a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs to give the Tigers the win in Gardiner.

Mansur also had a double and earned the pitching win for Gardiner (4-6). Dylan Farnham belted a double, as well.

Noah Carpenter had a triple, a double and an RBI for Leavitt (6-5).

MONMOUTH 10, WINTHROP 5: Luke Harmon’s three-run home run gave the Mustangs (9-1) breathing room as they held off the rival Ramblers (7-3) in Monmouth.

The Mustangs entered the fifth inning holding on to a 6-5 lead. They plated one run and then Harmon hit his third homer of the season — “He put it in the woods,” Monmouth coach Eric Palleschi said — to increase the lead to five runs, 10-5.

The Mustangs scored three runs in the second and three more in the third to go up 6-0, but Winthrop cut its deficit to one with a five-run fourth inning.

Kyle Palleschi finished with a game-high three hits for Monmouth, and he drove in two runs. Matt Marquis and Hunter Frost each contributed two hits. Marquis also drove in two runs.

Mustangs starter Isaac Oliveira earned his first win of the season.

Jaxon August and Brayden Stubbert had RBI singles for the Ramblers.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 7, TELSTAR 2: Bradley Sirois pitched a two-hitter and had two hits to help lead the Falcons (3-6) past the Rebels (0-8) in Bethel.

Sirois struck out eight batters in his complete-game effort. Kaden Paaso also had two hits for Mountain Valley, and Leon Salmon drove in three runs.

Brody Walker had one of Telstar’s two hits and also pitched the first six innings, striking out nine. Al Ballou had the other hit and picked up an RBI.

MT. ABRAM 3, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2: Payton Mitchell, Bryce Wilcox and Kaden Pillsbury combined on a three-hitter as the Roadrunners (6-2) edged the Phoenix (5-5) in Salem Township.

Pillsbury also had two hits for Mt. Abram. Wilcox, while playing catcher, threw out a lead-off runner in the sixth that erased a Spruce Mountain threat.

Eli Timler pitched a complete game for the Phoenix, scattering six hits.

YORK 8, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4: The Wildcats (5-6) scored four runs in the fifth inning to beat the Patriots (2-9) at Gray.

Bradley Carr had two hits and two RBIs and Conor Fell hit a double and drove in a run for York. Ben Brown allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) in five innings, striking out eight. Reliever Alex Taylor struck out two in two hitless innings.

Colby Dehetre, Ian Libby and Abe Bouchard each had two hits for Gray-New Gloucester. Libby homered and drove in three runs, and Jake Maschino hit a double.

SOFTBALL
MESSALONSKEE 3, OXFORD HILLS 2: The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk it off and knock the Vikings from the ranks of the unbeaten in Oakland.

Morgan Wills threw a complete-game one-hitter for Messalonskee (6-3). Elise McDonald had two hits and three RBIs for the Eagles in the win.

Kyeria Morse took the loss for Oxford Hills (8-1).

MONMOUTH 6, WINTHROP 5: Brooklyn Federico pitched out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh as the Mustangs (10-0) held off the Ramblers (5-4) in Winthrop.

The Ramblers had the tying run on third and the winning run on second when Federico induced a groundout to end the game.

The Monmouth starter struck out 14 batters while scattering eight hits. She contributed two hits to the Mustangs’ offense, and Shanna Parsons had two doubles.

Winthrop pitcher Lauryn Wood had 14 strikeouts, as well. She also hit a double and two singles. Ella Rice homered and added two singles.

POLAND 24, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Olivia Rioux had four hits and drove in four runs, and Syndey Lacombe added four hits and three RBIs as the Knights (9-1) beat the Capers (5-4) in a four-inning game at Poland.

Khloe O’Leary and Nicole Rioux each had a triple and a single, combining to drive in five runs for Poland.

Gretchyn Paradis threw a one-hitter, striking out five, for the Knights and added a pair of hits.

Sofia Chung had an RBI for Cape in the top of the first.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 7, MT. ABRAM 4: The Phoenix (9-2) answered the Roadrunners’ (2-7) two-run bottom of the third with a five-run top of the fourth to grab the road win in Salem Township.

Rylee Turner earned the win in the circle for Spruce Mountain, scattering five hits in seven innings. Leah Burgess tripled and singled for the Phoenix.

Adrianna Stinchfield allowed just four hits in seven innings for Mt. Abram. Ari Dereszynski had three hits for the Roadrunners.

TELSTAR 7, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 6: The Rebels’ (3-5) bats were hot early, but the hosts had to sweat out a late rally by the Falcons (1-10) in Bethel.

Telstar scored all its runs across the first four innings before Mountain Valley made a late charge with a three-run sixth.

Makenzie Eliot scattered five hits in seven innings in the circle while striking out 12 for Telstar. At the plate, she had two hits and three RBIs. Karen Marshall also had two hits and scored two runs.

Layce Boucher, Mallorie Bourret and Brooke Bennett each hit a double for Mountain Valley. Lanee Boucher struck out four batters in six innings.

YORK 8, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Madison Raymond struck out 15 and scattered five hits as the Wildcats (10-1) downed the Patriots (5-5) in Gray.

McKayla Kortes and Ella Hickey each doubled, Raymond drove in a run and No. 9 hitter Ava Brent had a pair of hits.

Ryenne Grant doubled and singled and Heather Nevells also had two hits for Gray-New Gloucester. Novinha Comtois drove in the Patriots’ run in the fifth.

HALL-DALE 18, DIRIGO 2: The Bulldogs (10-0) pulled away in the final three innings of a five-inning win over the Cougars (3-4) in Dixfield.

Hall-Dale scored five in the third, four in the fourth and eight in the fifth to cut the game short. The Bulldogs compiled 14 hits.

Marie Benoit and Torie Tibbetts each had two doubles, and Zoe Soule and Lucy Gray also had two hits. Ashlyn Donahue added a triple. Rita Benoit pitched a three-hitter.

Grace Robbins hit a triple and Kallie Errington doubled for Dirigo.

BOYS LACROSSE
LEWISTON 19, EDWARD LITTLE 4: Cody Dionne fired in seven goals and Kyle Graves, Liam Hutchinson and Jackson Bement all had hat tricks in the Blue Devils’ (7-3) win over the Red Eddies (2-6) in Lewiston.

Graves and Hutchinson each added two assists, and Aiden St. George tallied four. Eli Bigelow notched a goal and two assists, and Colton Daniels and Daven Langelier also scored. Daniels scooped up six ground balls as well. Brock Rancourt made 13 saves.

Andrew Clements scored two goals and collected 13 ground balls for Edward Little, and Evan O’Donnell and Jack Thompson added goals. Cam Dufour stopped six shots.
