We had dozens of people recognize the sculpture “Silent Messenger” in front of the Kora Shrine Temple at the corner of Sabattus and Main streets in Lewiston. A few mentioned that it is a depiction of a 1970 photograph of a Shriner holding a young girl. Others mentioned they were at the unveiling of the statue last December that was attended by the girl in the photo, Bobbi Jo Wright, who is now an adult. In 1970, Wright was a patient at the St. Louis Shriners Hospital. The image captured in the photograph became an iconic representation of the Shriners’ work helping children. In a random drawing from all the correct entries, Nancy Boilard of Lewiston was picked as the winner of a $20 Hannaford Supermarket gift card.
