Miss Karen Zielinski of Auburn and Mrs. Elizabeth Goodspeed of Portland, both field directors for Kennebec Girl Scout Council, have returned from a Regional Girl Scout staff conference held this week at Kerhonkson, N.Y.
The three-day event explored ways of keeping Girl Scout program in step with economic and educational changes. Ms. Elizabeth Forsling Harris, co-founder of Ms Magazine, was a featured speaker, and workshop topics included Girl Scout partnership with other community agencies to meet the needs of youth.
Miss Zielinski directs Cedar Cove, a Kennebec Council resident camp, and serves as field director in the Bath and Winthrop areas and Franklin and Somerset Counties. Mrs. Goodspeed is the field director for Lewiston and Auburn program and the Rumford and South Portland area and also coordinates the Council’s day camping program.
25 Years Ago: 1998
The Lewiston- Auburn Rotary Club will meet Thursday noon at the Martindale Country Club in Auburn. There will be a visiting teacher from Thailand as a guest.
