WESTBROOK — Lewiston police on Wednesday detained a local man wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Westbrook.
Malik Roman, 19, was arrested by Westbrook police on a charge of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Investigators said Roman fired rounds from a gun into the air during an early morning dispute on Bridge Street in that city.
At about 2:30 a.m., Westbrook police had been called out for a report of gunshots in that area. At the scene, police found several spent shell casings, according to a press release on the shooting. After investigating further, police identified Roman as the shooter and provided information about him to other area police departments.
Police in Lewiston were able to track down and detain Roman without incident and they held him until detectives from Westbrook arrived to make the arrest.
