LD 1619, An Act to Improve Maine’s Reproductive Privacy Laws, was heard May 1 by the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee.
The bill is centered on abortions, and calls for a factual report to the Department of Health and Human Services on each abortion.
The patient is to remain anonymous. What will be omitted from the report requirement is the reason for the abortion — why was it necessary, and who made the decision?
Who performs abortions in Maine? A doctor of osteopathy or doctor of medicine, a physician assistant, or a person licensed as an advanced practice nurse.
Each can do so in their professional judgment.
This bill will repeal the law against abortion after viability. Therefore, a baby about to be born can be murdered legally.
Is this what we want in our state? No thanks, Democrats.
