PARIS —The cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant home Wednesday at 89 Gary St. remains under investigation.
The fire was reported at approximately 1 p.m. and when Paris Fire Chief Mark Blaquiere arrived within a couple of minutes of the call, the home was already fully involved, he said.
The two-story structure was being renovated, and with several internal walls missing, the home was rocking back and forth, Blaquiere said. To prevent injuries, the home was knocked down to make fighting the fire safer.
Firefighters took approximately two hours to extinguish the flames and begin cleaning up the scene. There is nothing left but a pile of rubble, Blaquiere said. Officials are uncertain where the fire started.
There were no injuries. Assisting Paris Fire Department were crews from Norway, Oxford, West Paris fire departments and PACE Ambulance.
