The Otisfield Conservation Committee has scheduled its annual cleanup of town roads for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6.
The rain date is from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7.
There is a lot of trash on the side of the roads, and the town needs help, according to a news release from Maureen Mooney-Howard, committee chair.
Volunteers should wear boots, gloves and bug spray, since the sides of the roads may still be wet. Trash bags, water and plastic gloves will be provided by the town.
The group will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Otisfield Community Hall, 292 Oxford Road. Those who want to clean up their own road that day or on another day are encouraged to do so and then join the group for lunch.
Members of the Otisfield Social Outreach Committee will feed the volunteers lunch at the Community Hall after the cleanup. In case of rain on May 6, the group plans to meet at noon for lunch at the Community Hall, and will pick up trash after lunch. Those who plan to join for lunch are asked to let organizers know to ensure the right amount of food is provided.
Those planning to help with the efforts are asked to email Mooney-Howard at jimandmoe@gmail.com.
Organizers need to know who is able to bring a pickup truck that day to transport trash to Casco Bulky Waste and the Otisfield Transfer Station.
