DEAR SUN SPOTS: We know folks in Sun Spots Land love animals and hope we can find some volunteers who could have a flexible schedule. If you like being outside and working with your hands, are ready to give back and feel that you are making a difference, then the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society wants to talk with you.

While our mission is to provide humane care for needy animals, promote adoption and help improve the lives of pets, we also have a large building, vehicles and grounds that need to be maintained.

We are recruiting volunteers and/or a part-time staff position to help us keep our property in good repair and looking good. The main focus is on groundskeeping, mowing, dog park cleanup, maintenance, basic vehicle maintenance, snowblowing, and handy-person tasks.

This is an opportunity to be outside in the fresh air, keep active and be involved with a great cause. If interested, please contact Ken Schlichting at ken@gahumane.org. — Katie, executive cirector of GAHS, Lewiston

ANSWER: I hope you find just the right people to help you. If you’re interested, check out the video at https://gahumane.org/get-involved/volunteer/.

If you don’t have the time to volunteer, perhaps you would consider donating money to the shelter or making a purchase for the organization from its Amazon Wish List: https://tinyurl.com/mpcsuvmf

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you please tell me if the Kiwanis Club is going to have a pancake breakfast this year? — No name, Minot

ANSWER: I reached out to the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston-Auburn and because of the number of members, they aren’t able to hold the breakfast which at one time was an annual event. They didn’t know of any breakfasts taking place in Maine this year.
