Fiddlers Frank Ferrel and Greg Boardman will team up at the Oasis of Music beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at The Church at Trinity Commons in Lewiston.
Both musicians are well-known in the fiddling community of Maine and a bit beyond for their love of traditional downeast and Franco-American fiddling, which they have shared in homes, concert halls, dance halls and on recordings over their many decades of music-making. Between the two the audience will get a taste of tunes these musicians have learned from others over the years and some they have composed in the old style. Besides fiddles, the guitar, concertina and cello will also be heard in melody and accompaniment.
The Oasis of Music is a weekly music series of performances of roughly thirty minutes, running from September to May. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The musical genres vary greatly, in largely, but not exclusively, acoustic formats. COVID restrictions of optional mask-wearing and social distancing are observed. The Church at Trinity Commons is located at 247 Bates St., Lewiston. For more information, call 207-344-3106.
