The Lewiston City Council is poised to reduce the opening hours of the Lewiston Public Library to 40 hours from 50 a week and close the library one additional day.
Losing 20% of its hours and programming would be a major blow to Lewiston’s children and teens at a time when they need more learning and support than ever.
Those who have taken their children to LPL for its many reading programs, story time or Art Van, or peeked into the Teen Space, understand the impact LPL has on Lewiston’s young people and their families.
Our children and teens are the future of our city. Our city council should know that our young people don’t deserve these damaging cuts.
