CMCC 9, NHTI 3: Zach Mann drove in three runs with three hits to lead the Mustangs past the Lynx in Auburn on Wednesday evening.
Central Maine Community College opened up on NHTI with eight runs in the first inning.
Mustangs pitcher Garret Harvey struck out eight batters.
SOFTBALL
THOMAS 20, UMF 1: Cheyenne Simpson had four hits and four RBIs for the Terriers (9-8) in their win over the Beavers (1-18) in Waterville.
Leah Knight added three hits and three RBIs for Thomas, and Kelsey Currier, Megan Oberholzer and Makayla Panich all drove in two runs.
Lewiston’s Bella Miller had UMaine-Farmington’s only hit, a double that drove in the Beavers’ only run.
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
RECORD FOR BARNES: Gray-New Gloucester graduate Zoe Barnes set the University of Southern Maine shot put record Saturday at the Penmen Relays in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The sophomore’s throw of 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8.6 inches) surpassed the previous program record of 12.92 meters set by Ashley Belanger in 2015.
Barnes won the shot put and the discus at Saturday’s meet.
