AUBURN — Central Maine Community College allowed just one run combined in sweeping a Yankee Small College Conference baseball doubleheader against Great Bay Community College on Friday.
Winning pitcher Shane Sullivan went five innings and struck out nine batters to collect the win as the Mustangs rolled over the Herons in the first game, 15-0 in five innings.
Colton Frisbee drove in four runs and teammates Kaleb Thompson and Zach Mann each had three hits.
But Great Bay was little tougher to handle in the second game, but the Mustangs still prevailed 6-1 in seven innings, with winning pitcher Garret Harvey going five innings and striking out 12 batters. CMCC’s Jimmy Reed had three hits and two RBIs.
TRINITY 7, BATES 5: The Bobcats rallied with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but their last-ditch effort wasn’t enough to beat the Bantams in a NESCAC tilt in Lewiston.
Trinity took a commanding 7-3 lead after six innings.
Bates’ third baseman Chris Cimino had two hits and scored two runs. Luke Linnehan was tagged with the loss after pitching five innings and giving up nine hits. For the day, Bates (12-10) had 13 hits and Trinity (15-7) delivered 12.
