BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — The Maine Gladiators suffered their first loss at USA Hockey’s Tier II 2A 18U National Tournament on Friday as the Montgomery Ice Devils came away with a 4-0 victory.

Ethan Birndorf and Seamus McNally gave Montgomery (2-0) a 2-0 lead after the first period.

Connor Hall scored midway through the second period, giving the Maryland-based Ice Devils a 3-0 advantage. Samuel Greenberg capped the scoring with 5:38 remaining in the second stanza.

Jason Conlon made 14 saves in two periods for Montgomery and Devin Brown held off the Auburn-based Gladiators (1-1) with 13 saves in the third period to complete the combined shutout.

Edward Little’s Gage Ducharme made 23 saves in the loss.

The Gladiators wrap up pool play Saturday at 3:15 p.m. against the Clearwater (Florida) Ice Storm’s Blue team.
