Austin Poulin of Turner, a senior at Leavitt Area High School, has been selected to receive the 2023 Principal’s Award.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship, according to a news release from Principal Eben Shaw.
“Austin is an outstanding student leader,” noted Shaw in making the announcement. “He has been president of his class for the last four years. He has also been an active member of our Key Club and NHS. He has played soccer and participated in several drama/theater productions. Austin has added a great deal to our school community and this recognition is well deserved.”
Austin, Shaw and other award winners and their principals will attend an honors luncheon Saturday, April 1, at Jeff’s Catering.
The luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of 10 $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
