PARIS — The Oxford County Commission on Tuesday accepted a bid from D.A. Wilson & Co. of Bethel to pave Patte Brook Road where it crosses over Patte Brook in Albany Township.

Wilson bid $98,576, the lowest among 11 offers. Most were in the $150,000 range; the highest was $796,422.

Commissioners had earlier accepted a bid from Concrete Systems for $6,931.40 to build culverts for the project.

In other business, commissioners accepted a recommendation from Oxford County Regional Airport Director Tony Carter and named Hoyle Tanner & Associates of Brunswick as the consultant on the recently awarded $245,000 Airport Terminal Program grant.

The airport, which is on Airport Road off Number Six Road in Oxford, was the only small airport in New England to receive the grant, Carter said.

Hoyle Tanner, which has previously done work for the airport, will help officials scope out the project. The company received the highest score by a committee put together by Carter to review the proposals on a number scale using such factors as experience, local knowledge and scope.

In other business, commissioners reviewed a Telecommunication Hiring/Retention Information Survey compiled by the 24 statewide public safety answering points, or dispatch centers. The survey reviewed pay rates, benefits and issues with hiring and retention and vacancy rates among dispatchers statewide.

The county hopes to incorporate some of the suggestions and programs utilized by other centers.

District Attorney Neil McLean Jr. told commissioners he is attempting to build a team of experts to investigate fatal and serious vehicle accidents.

“We hope this can help us to respond more quickly,” McLean said.

Commissioners held a 36-minute executive session to discuss contract negotiations with one of the unions.
