DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn and hope you could help us with finding homes to renovate this year.
This nonprofit organization is supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, material and money. We are dedicated to repairing the homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age, and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves.
Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner. The work is conducted one weekend a year. This year, Rebuilding Day is May 13.
Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn is accepting house applications until March 31. Applications may be submitted through email or downloaded at: www.rebuildingtogetherla.org or by emailing rebuildingtogetherla@gmail.com.
Volunteers are also needed and can do so via the email address above or call 344-3232. — Shanna, no town
ANSWER: I hope anyone who has a need will fill out an application right away to get this process started. This is a wonderful opportunity to get some help.

ANSWER: If you live in the area, it’s such an easy thing to pick up a few extras when you’re at the grocery store and bring them to the church. If everyone who is able to gives just a little, it can make a big difference to people in need.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do any Sun Spotters have children’s books to donate to families in need in our community. Books are needed for children from infants to teenagers.
Please drop off books at the Auburn United Methodist Church at 439 Park Ave. or contact the church office at 782-3972. — George, Auburn
ANSWER: Thank you for this effort to get books to children. There are families who cannot afford books or do not have transportation or time to get to the library. And of course, every child loves having books of their own to read again and again.
I hope many books come in for you to distribute and if you need volunteers to help, let me know and I’ll spread the word.
