West Paris Public Library is set to host Community Crochet, a free three-week beginner/intermediate instructional series for all ages, from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturdays beginning March 11, at the 226 Main St. library.
Donna Marshall of West Paris, the facilitator, learned to knit and crochet as a teen and fell in love with the art of amigurumi crochet (crocheted toys) a few years ago, according to a news release from Brenda Lynn Gould, library director.
Marshall has experimented with all kinds of yarns over the years: acrylic, wool, cotton, jute, hemp and plastic. Retirement has given her the time to pursue her passion for crochet, a passion she’d like to share with others.
The free classes are scheduled for the following Saturdays:
• March 11: Learn basic crochet techniques and stitches for beginners. Learn to read a pattern.
• March 17: Choose a pattern to create.
• March 25: Work on individual projects. Troubleshoot any crochet problems.
Participants will need to bring a crochet hook and a ball of yarn.
To register, call 207-674-2004 or email librarian@westparislibrary.org.
